Kiln Rentals

Electric Kiln rental is available on a schedule and space basis. The pottery studio has two kilns available for rent: a Skutt 1227 with a capacity of 9.9 cu ft and a Skutt 1027 with a capacity of 7cu ft.

Additional fees may be required for larger pieces, or pieces in general that require a longer preheat or firing schedule.

Each kiln can be partially rented out for cone 06 bisque and cone 6 glaze only. Partial rentals are subject to waiting for student or resident potter work to fill the kiln. Ex. 1/4 of the 1227 kiln can be rented out for glaze firing with use of the studio glazes for $27.50. Other firing temps ex, cone 04, cone 7 will require full kiln rental.

Individual pieces can be fired for $.02 per cu inches for bisque and $.03 for glaze firing. Ex L x W x H x .03 = cost to fire. Minimum cost to fire is $2.

A tutorial for how to load and unload the kiln will be provided. After the tutorial, full kiln renters will be responsible for loading and unloading their own work.

Raku

Raku Kiln rental is available to potters with Raku firing experience.

Full day rental $120. 3 - 4 firings

Single firing $75

Rental covers propane and glazes.
