A Major 3rd Friday Event

Is it a raging bull? No. Is it a strong bull? Yes. Very strong, but also very serene and very much at peace. And I feel like that idea is something that is more important now than ever.
— Leah Foushee-Waller (from Spectrum News One, celebrating Major’s 17th Birthday)

Happy birthday major

Are you ready to party the night away as we celebrate a major birthday for our beloved Major the Bull – he turns 21 this year!

The Artists

Major the Bull was created in 2004 by Liberty Arts artists Michael Waller and Leah Foushee-Waller. And we are super excited that Michael and Leah will be celebrating this major event with us and will chat about their process and the planning that went into creating such a major sculpture.

Artivities and breweries

Enjoy kid-friendly party games, art activities and even a trip down memory lane highlighting Major’s legacy. And now since he’s finally legal, Durham breweries are gearing up to serve him his first sip! The fun doesn’t stop there- make sure you sign Major’s giant birthday card, courtesy of Downtown Durham Inc!

Family Fun + Food + Music

Jam to live tunes and entertainment by DJ Brian Dawson, grab a birthday cupcake from Little Barb’s Bakery and explore birthday-themed specials from participating downtown businesses! Then, hang around for a Cypher by Blackspace at 9:19 p.m.

It’s all happening this Friday, April, 18th at the CCB Plaza from 5:00pm-9:00pm!

This 3rd Friday event is brought to you by @LibertyArts and @DowntownDurham, in partnership with @DurhamNC and the Love Durham campaign.

Flashback Friday

Major Memories

A big thanks to everyone that sent Major a love letter during last month’s 3rd Friday event. And we look forward to seeing you this Friday for a Major Birthday Bash!

Third Friday events are part of our continued commitment to creating fun experiences for our community!
